The WORD! show on Panj Pani Radio 30th June
Yesterday was Lyric Lounges first appearance on Panj Pani radio, we all turned up thinking we were short for time but as it turned out we had fifteen minutes to spare to run over what we were going to talk about in the show. we decided on some songs and poems to play, what we would discuss, and the rest we figured we’d make up as we were going along!
After a breif introduction from the lovely manager of Panj Pani, who showed us how to use the equipment, he pressed record and off we went! slightly later than schedualed but never the less, after a quick start things began to role. Lydia Towsey, Director of the festival, was hosting, Lauren, Yvette, Karen, Nathan, Kishan, Diviesh and I were her co-presenters/guests. we begun with the lyric lounge theme tune and then a brief outline of what lyric lounge entailed by its intern Nathan, who spoke enthusiastically about the event and what it entailed. we played another song then next up discussed in more detail about how each volunteer had got involved with the program, and abit about themselves, this linked then to Lydia questioning me about Citizens Eye, what it’s all about & about how we are supporting the lounge this year. I spoke about James Black heading the Citizen reporting for the event, and CAP’s (community action photographers) taking charge of the photography side, to which she replied in great enthusiasm that this year they are relying on CAP’s to photograph the event, and have decided against hiring a professional instead to do this - great news for CAP’s!. then some more music and poetry readings from myself and Yvette, then followed by readings from Nathan and Diviesh. This really brought diversity to what you’d normally expect from a radio show. We finished (trying to squash all the material we had) with a poem and our final goodbyes, and will be streaming live again online http://panjpaniradio.co.uk/ on wednesday 7th July, 12pm - 2pm when we will be interviewing a special guest who will be performing at the lyric lounge. Afterwards we had very positive feedback, from the head of Panj Pani radio, who said that you couldnt tell it was our first show, it could have been our 100th - it went so well.
Tune in next week for more news, poetry, and updates leading up to the wonderful lyric lounge!
