The Poetical Happenings Team’s Final Meeting at New Walk Museum 24th July

Saturday’s won’t be the same at New Walk after the lyric lounge. No longer will the hoards of avid volunteers take over the museum to plan and invent new ways to lure in the general public for the wonder and splendour that will be the Lyric Lounge.

This final meeting was set to finish and plan times of all the idea’s so far set out as ‘poetical happening’s’ at the lounge. There will be a Poetree, it is what it is, where members of the public will be allowed to write lyrics or poems on leaves and stick them to the various tree’s to be distributed around and about the museum. The poetry fridge (that took alot of hard work and painting!) will be worn by several volunteers who will walk around the museum with words attached to be used and rearranged just like magnets to form the lyric loungers choice of lyrics/poem. The poetry river aims to be a continuous poem to which people may add a follow on line or two to complete it finally after the weekend is over. The walking speech bubble - again it is what it is! add your favourite lyrics, your own poetry or anything really, then have your picture taken with it next to you and it will be shown on projectors placed around the lounge for you to view. This is just to name a few. Of course, at any point you will be able to approach a volunteer to find out exactly what is happening at the lounge at any given time, or pick up a program for full details. It’s all terribly exciting stuff. This week volunteers took the time available to complete their pieces, and will be showcasing them throughout Lyric Lounge which starts this Friday 30th July at 10am onwards.

So you don’t want to miss this one folks, it promises to be an epic weekend!
