Films at the Lounge

The technicians work on projecting the ‘Khushi’ and ‘Word for Health’ films

Everyday at the Lounge

Filmmaker Gareth Morgan from Zenithfilms gives his thoughts on the two short films that were shown over the three days of The Lyric Lounge.

Due to some technical issues the films weren’t actually show in the room stated, and were instead shown on the first floor lobby. The 2 films on show were ‘Khushi’ a film about an Asian women’s poetry group and ‘Words for Health’ a film about the spoken word and its impacts on both mental health and a sense of well-being.

Both films had excellent content, the stories of the women in the ‘Khushi’ film were very detailed and interesting and the poems in Words for Health were both dynamic and thought inspiring.

Unfortunately, for me the visual aspects of both films did not share the same quality as the spoken content, granted they were filmed and edited by young people, but the actual use of visual stimulus was uninspiring and did not attract a focused audience. Which was a real shame as the audio content was superb and deserved a more focused visual experience.
